Drug and Alcohol Misuse Support
At Launchpad we support our students through PSHE lessons and working with several outside agencies by supporting them to address drug and alcohol issues through early intervention. These outside agencies include:
- St Helens Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team (YPDAAT)
- The Amy Winehouse Foundation
- Catch 22
- Smoking Cessation
Drug and alcohol support for young people in St Helens is being delivered by St Helens Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team (YPDAAT). We work closely with YPDAAT and can make referrals to them to offer support to your child.
St Helens Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team (YPDAAT)
YPDAAT provide young people and their families in St Helens with a range of interventions to help them to make informed choices around drug and alcohol use in order to achieve their full potential.
Despite what you might think, most young people choose not to use drugs or alcohol. Of those that do most young people will grow out of this without any issues.
YPDAAT can:-
- Help students to make healthy choices, to prevent them getting into risky situations due to drug and alcohol use.
- Provide a confidential service
- Offer help and support in cutting down, quitting or being safe and provide one to one sessions
- Offer complimentary therapy sessions to help relaxation and show you other ways to chill out.
Further information is available on the YPDAAT website
If you wish to make a referral to YPDAAT please either telephone, email or speak to the Head of Provision at your child's school.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation
The Amy Winehouse foundation has worked with Launchpad to offer both students and parents to explain the risks associated with substance misuse through the prism of people’s real life experiences. The aim is to help students make informed decisions about the use of drugs and alcohol and learn how to handle peer pressure and risky situations.

Smoking Cessation
The Smoking Cessation team support students at Launchpad to deter and in some cases to give up smoking. They offer free advice and support, tailored to the individual needs of the smoker, to help you quit smoking. In the past they have provided group work showing students the harmful effects of smoking on their bodies and how much money students can save by not smoking.
