HEALTH & WELLBEING

"Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to contribute to her or his community." - (World Health Organisation)

At Launchpad we aim to promote positive mental health for every student through lessons, positive messages around the school, positive attitude of all staff, and we encourage constructive relationships amongst students.

We also address wellness where all students are provided with breakfast, dinner, and drink when they attend Launchpad, ensuring no student ever goes hungry.

Physical health is promoted strongly in the school. As well as physical education sessions there is also outdoor education where pupils can be outdoors, explore new hobbies and be active away from the school base.

In addition to promoting positive mental and physical health, we aim to recognise and respond to poor mental health. By developing and implementing practical, relevant, and effective mental health support we can promote a safe and stable environment. We pride ourselves in enhancing every pupil’s mental health and wellbeing; guiding them to see their own self-worth and help them demonstrate their individual skills.

AT LAUNCHPAD KEY STAGE 3 WE:-

  • Increase understanding and awareness of common mental health issues.

We do this by individual sessions designed to meet the personal needs of the students. Confront negative views about mental health. Bring awareness to events and days being conscious about mental health.

  • Work with outside agencies to support pupil’s mental health.

Such as CAMHS, YPAAT, Catch 22.

  • Provide support to pupils in the school to prevent mental ill health.
  • Provide support to pupils suffering mental ill health.
