Attendance Matters

Dear Parent/Carer
Being in school is important to your child’s academic achievement, wellbeing, and wider development.  There is evidence to suggest that regular school attendance is a key mechanism to support children and young people's educational, economic, and social outcomes. Schools can facilitate positive peer relationships, which contributes to better mental health and wellbeing.
Attendance at school is crucial to prepare young people for successful transition to adulthood, and to support their longer term economic and social participation in society. Data shows that just 92% attendance (1 day off every two weeks), equates to more than three school weeks or 85 missed lessons per year, and potentially a whole drop in GCSE grades. The impact of poor attendance is not only a reduction in academic ability, but also has a significant effect on the social capabilities of young people.
We want all our pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances, which is why Launchpad Tuition is dedicated to supporting families and children to improve school attendance.
Please find a number of resources available for you to download that may help to give you a greater understanding of the types of support available, the reasons your child may be reluctant to go to school, and documents to help you support them.
Kind regards
Rob Vaughan
