Our students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a range of reading stimuli, both fiction and non-fiction. We endeavour to teach texts in context, studying the work of both traditional and contemporary writers from a range of times and traditions.

Through the study of English language and literature, we strive to challenge our students to think deeply to further enrich their subject knowledge, and to master a firm foundation of literacy skills that will equip them for the future.

Wider reading, and reading for pleasure, is deeply encouraged by our teachers. It is also supported by the 'Accelerated Reader' programme which provides students with online book quizzes and reading list recommendations.
