Behaviour Improvement Team
The Behaviour Improvement Team works closely with local schools, teachers, parents and other agencies to promote positive behaviour in school. It is part of the Outreach Support Service for Schools and forms an essential part of a continuum of support for children and young people who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties within school. By supporting best practice behaviour management within St Helens schools, as well as addressing the specific challenges presented by individual young people, the Service seeks to make a positive impact on pupil participation, engagement in learning and individual attainment.
Every effort is made to keep young people within a mainstream school setting but strong links are maintained with Alternative Provision Services, such as the Pupil Referral Units, if such provision might benefit a pupil in the longer term.
All requests for support from the Behaviour Improvement Team must be made by schools and if working with a named child or young person, be through parental consent and agreement.
